We believe in slow fashion and unique handmade quality goods. Our pieces are manufactured sustainable, and in accordance with the local communities.

In one of the most hidden places on earth, in the wide country fields of Tocantins, Brazil, our unique timeless pieces are crafted by hand. What our products are made of is nature's gift: The raw material of our products is Capim Dourado - or Golden Grass. No chemical treatment needed to enhance its impressive color: golden! Only dried in sunlight.

The aim is not only to build a save home for and with single mums with their kids, but also to empower these women to belive in their strength and ability.

HERITAGE: The golden grass plant is indigenous to just one certain region in Brazil: Jalapão. There, only a handfull of villages craft the products that are sold worldwide.

SUSTAINABLE HARVESTING:
Brazilian Spring (european Septemper-Oktober) is high season for harvesting of Golden Grass. The Artists of the few villages itself go out to the fields to collect a state regulated amount of golden grass. For 1 kg of Golden Grass it takes 5 hours of manual collecting and cropping off of the flower - for one person. The Flowers with its seeds are left on the fields to ensure sustainable growth the next year.

RAW MATERIAL:
All pieces are made of one certain plant, Syngonanthus nitens aka Golden Grass. No need of chemical treatment, coloring or coating needed. You’ ll touch nature as it is by touching our products.

*please note it is a natural products and should be handled with care at any time. It is repellent to liquids as mentioned above but shouldn't be soaked in one of these liquids for hours. Carefull rinsing of parts by hand from time to time is possible with just lukewarm water without soap / any other cleanser. Let dry in sunlight, or if not possible, by room temperature on a clean towel.

MANUFACTURING by Hand: The Tradition of crafting goods (mostly baskets) of golden grass by hand is several hundreds of years old and belongs to the indigenous Xerente people of Brazil. Descendants of this tribe learn the skillfull tradition by their ancestors. Nowadays the craftmanship offers a reliable source of income for families of the regional villages. The Tradition of crafting this exceptional artisanal art is passed on from mother to daughter and gives the women of Tocantins a piece of independence.

FAIRTRADE: We collaborate directly with the artists and pay a fair price straight to the hands crafting all the unique pieces in Jalapão.
All craftwork and handmanufacturing is carried out in the region itself. By this, the tradition and skills are preserved in the region and finally earnings reach the people in Jalapão who deserve it for their talent and passionate work.
